Our articles have been grouped into locations so you can better read about what there is to see and do in a town.
It's easy, start by picking a location. Each article has a link to an RvTrips' web page containing more detailed information, photos and maps.
During a caravan trip south along the NSW coast we were lucky enough to spend a few days at the BIG4 Tathra Beach Holiday Park. This park is easily found along Andy Poole Road - across from the beach and a short walk to the baker, cafes, Bowling Club and shops.
We arrived at BIG4 Tathra Beach Holiday Park at about 1:30 – time for lunch. We were warmly welcomed by Greg and allocated a lovely large corner site. This site is positioned so that you can back on from two directions. Lovely to have the choice and maximise the sun's rays in the morning.
This is a very neat and tidy park, with sealed roads and well maintained grassy sites. There is a lovely area near the centre of the park containing solar heated pools, plenty of seating, shade umbrellas and beautiful palm trees. One feature of this area is a section of the fence consisting of closely spaced railway sleepers set vertically - very nice. The pool, camp kitchen, amenities block and large covered barbeque area are all co-located in one section of the park making it easy to keep an eye on the kids. As you can see from the photos the barbeque area is large enough for groups.
A colourful, fully fenced children's playground for the younger children is opposite reception. You need a card to operate the boom gate for entry to the park (via Andy Poole Drive) and exit is via an automatic boom gate onto Hollis Drive which runs along one side of the park.
Amenities - everyone wants to know about these before booking into a caravan park. At BIG4 Tathra, these are large, bright and very clean. Access is via a key and both sides (ladies and gents) open onto the laundry. You can also access the laundry from the back of the building (operated by the same key) which opens onto the clothes lines.
I believe that managers and staff at a caravan park can make your stay memorable and I would like to share a story about BIG4 Tathra Beach Holiday Park. During our stay there were a group of young girls staying in a tent opposite our site. Apparently this was their first camping experience and they arrived with a new tent. It was raining and they soon discovered that the tent had a large leak! The staff at the BIG4 did not hesitate to find them alternative accommodation for the night. Next day the tent was repaired and back to camping for the girls. It is nice to hear about the helpful attitude of some parks and I must say we heard nothing but praise for Greg, Kerrie and their team at this lovely BIG4.
I would not hesitate to recommend BIG4 Tathra Beach Holiday Park and we plan to stay here on our next trip to this beautiful part of the NSW South Coast.
While staying at the BIG4 Tathra Beach Holiday Park we decided to take a walk across the road and look at Tathra Beachside. This is a huge caravan park with a range of cabins, safari tents (next to ensuites) retro on-site vans, powered van sites and camping areas.
This park has a large water park, backs onto the beach, and, sitting in the centre of the park is a large covered camp kitchen next to children’s playground. Apparently this is owned by Frankie J Holden who performs at the park on a regular basis.
The staff at the counter were very helpful and there are a number of permanent caravans at one end of the park - some of which were on sale.
There were lots of families staying at this park during our visit with caravans and tents close together - this must be very busy during school holidays.
