Austin Tourist Park is located on New England Highway (581 Armidale Road) as you drive into Tamworth from Armidale. This park is a member of Top Parks - resident owners are Frank and Christine Edwards. Austin Tourist Park is a five minutes drive to the centre of town and located beside the Oasis Hotel - cold drinks and food.
The driveway to the park runs beside the reception area with cabins located along the access road. There are some lovely caravan spots out the back on a grassed area with plenty of trees and backing onto the Peel river. A new amenities block has been built near the rear of the park with some ensuite type bathrooms.
There is also an older amenities block towards the driveway. Both amenities appeared to be neat and tidy.
We found the staff very friendly and happy to provide us with a brochure and fees for an overnight stay at some time in the future.
While visiting Tamworth in Northern NSW we stayed at the BIG4 Paradise Tourist Park on Peel Street. This lovely park is in a great location with easy access to local attractions and walking distance to the CBD. In fact it is only one block from the Country Music Hall of Fame - Tamworth is known as the Country Music Capital of Australia and attracts thousands of visitors each year.
The BIG4 Paradise Tourist park has two sections, indicated on the park map as the Peel Street Side and the East Street side. These sections are separated by a quiet block of Peel Street and there is very little traffic. We were greeted warmly by the friendly staff and were able to wander around and choose a site that suited our needs. We chose to stay in the East Street section on a large grassy site close to the amenities. These amenities are very clean and spacious with a disabled bathroom and separate laundry.
Some features of this lovely caravan park are:
We enjoyed our time in Tamworth at BIG4 Paradise Tourist Park and ended up staying for more than a week (we received a discount for the 7th night of our stay). BIG4 discounts also apply for accommodation at the park. This park has one of the best camp kitchens and outdoor barbeque areas we have seen and is big enough to cater for large groups. This would be a great asset during the famous Country Music Festival held in Tamworth each January.
This member of the RvTrips team highly recommends BIG4 Paradise Tourist Park as the place to stay when visiting Tamworth.
Tamworth North Holiday Park can be found just off the New England Highway at Nemingha (an outer suburb of Tamworth) as you head towards Armidale. This park looks neat and tidy and is accessed from Somerset Place. Weekly rates are available.
Some of the park features include:
Tamworth North Holiday Park is pet friendly with pleasant surroundings and only a short drive into Tamworth CBD.
