BIG4 Sunshine South West Rocks Holiday Park     Read more ...

BIG4 Sunshine South West Rocks is easy to find along the road to Trial Bay where we received a lovely warm welcome at reception. Lucy was more than happy to allow access to several cabins for photos:

  • Designer Saltwater Retreat - new two bedroom cabins loads of features including dishwasher, washing machine, 2 x double bunks and a Queen bed
  • Sunshine Tent - one of the unique tents designed by the park and built on a flat bed trailer - hard roof and floor. For those who want to sleep inside canvas without the hassle of erecting the tent at the end of the day this is a great option
  • Gumnut Cabin - QB in main room and small second bedroom with double bunks.  Set in lush gardens and well equipped.
  • Designer Freshwater Villa - a three bedroom villa. Very new and beautifully decorated with plenty of seating and features Washer and dryer, dishwasher and ensuite off main.

BIG4 Sunshine South West Rocks is great for children with a huge range of activities -
Put Put, jumping pillow and children's playground (both under a solid shade which is great in any weather), bike riding track with pretend petrol station and store, trampoline, games room, movie room, and a range of hire equipment (kayaks, go-carts, canoes and bikes). A creek is a short walk from the park which flows into a large lagoon.

One unique feature of the park is the half tennis court above the older amenities block - yes this sits on the top of the building and is accessed via stairs at one end.

This caravan park has an amazing swimming pool area with toddler’s pool, skull cove, large ship (pirate ship) with water bucket – deeper pool with water fall and various water slides.  All enclosed and near a huge camp kitchen. Very big wooden tables with bench seats (big enough for several families)  - they even have a supply of clean tea towels for guests, paper towel dispenser, electric barbeques, jug toaster, fridge, coffee and snack dispensing machines.

Pets are allowed outside school holidays – at managers discretion so check before arriving. Caravan sites along the main road (past the games room) are very shaded in the morning and this is where they usually place people travelling with dogs.

There are a number of powered ensuite sites which are very nice with plenty of space – once again towel rails have been attached to outside walls for beach towels.

We really enjoyed our stay at BIG4 Sunshine South West Rocks and stopped at The Full Circle Eatery for morning tea before leaving. Located alongside reception, this cafe is open for breakfast and lunch most days and some evenings for dinner. I must say our Mango muffin with white chocolate was delicious..

Horseshoe Bay Holiday Park     Read more ...

Horseshoe Bay Holiday Park is located right on the water overlooking Horseshoe Bay and beach at South West Rocks, on the coast of NSW.  This caravan park has some lovely sites overlooking the water and the park is close to shops, cafes, restaurants and the local pub - Seabreeze Beach Hotel.

This park is very popular and is booked out for several months of the year so it is advisable to ring regarding vacancies. Some of the sites are small so remember to tell the reception the size of your rig. Horseshoe Bay Holiday Park has a range of cabins, slab sits and raised pad sites.

Three are private ensuite bathrooms available at an extra fee which are house in a block near the front of the park. There are some great walking tracks and a couple of sheltered beaches to enjoy a swim.

This park received 4 stars due to its great location overlooking the beach.

Ingenia Holidays South West Rocks     Read more ...

Walked along the V Wall at Nambucca Heads, NSW and then back to the car through the Ingenia Holidays White Albatross Caravan Park. It is quite a large holiday park built around a lagoon - safe for swimming, paddling or SUPing.

This place also has a number of permanent residents – mostly at the rear of the park.  some cabins and caravan sites are situated around the lagoon in premium locations overlooking the water.  It has a great covered barbeque area alongside the jumping pillow, containing  a number of timber benches and seating.  On the other side of this jumping pillow is a wonderful enclosed camp kitchen with two more barbeques and a range of seating. Attached to this is a library with a selection of books.

The White Albatross has well maintained gardens and a roundabout in the centre of the park, not far from reception, with very nice fountains.  Several amenities blocks, children's playground and great pool with Water play park and separate swimming pool.  Nice and clean looking.

Games room and another access point to the V Wall Café is just across the road from the reception area. Very neat park next to some great walking tracks.

We stopped at reception to ask about pricing over Christmas and we were told that they have 'dynamic pricing' just like the airlines. Meaning that the sites become more expensive with higher demand and rates change day to day.  We had never heard of this pricing structure at a Caravan Park.

Trial Bay Gaol Campground     Read more ...

The Trial Bay Gaol Campground is, as the name suggests, located alongside Trial Bay Goal and on the foreshore of Trial Bay at South West Rocks.  This is a lovely spot for a holiday on the water with amenities block, picnic tables, boat ramp, cafe/kiosk, carpark, drinking water, showers, toilets, power etc. All of this and a beautiful location - some sites backing onto the beach.

This campsite is within the Arakoon National Park and bookings can be made with the Trial Bay Gaol on (02) 6566 6168 or National Parks Contact Centre on 1300 072 757.
Some of these sites are booked well in advance so it is best to check before your arrive.

This campground has sites suitable for tents, caravans and camper trailers and Trial Bay is a great spot for snorkelling, swimming, fishing, walking, SUPing and surfing. The Trial Bay Restaurant is not far from the campground and a great spot to enjoy a meal during your stay.

During winter it is great place to see whales making their annual migration north or spring as they make their way south hugging the coast and resting with their calves in Trial Bay, just off the campground.

We stayed in this campground when our children were younger - a wonderful family holiday.
