BIG4 Bungalow Park on Burrill Lake     Read more ...

On a recent caravan adventure we were lucky to stay for several days at the BIG4 Bungalow Park on Burrill Lake.  A new roundabout is being built on the highway to make access to this BIG4 park very easy. There are several parking bays alongside reception making check-in a breeze, leaving the entrance road to the park free for guests. This is a large park with plenty of great features. We were allocated a lovely spot adjacent to the lake itself - large flat site with cement slabs for caravan wheels and annex.

After setup it was time for lunch so we headed to The Fish Shop just a short drive or walk across the bridge.  What a great find - very clean and tidy with display of fresh fish, prawns and other seafood.  Certainly the best crumbed fish and chips we have had for ages.

Back to this wonderful park. There are a large number of activities for the children (and adults) – two swimming pools, full size tennis court and jumping pillow which is located over an old tennis court, which is fully fenced – great for safety of the children.  There are three children’s playgrounds, mini golf course and lots of open space to run around – not to mention the daily bird feeding session near reception which attracts hundreds of Rainbow Lorikeets, ducks and Corellas.  Beside this area are several large cockatoos in a huge cage who love to talk the visitors. They are also fed daily and we noticed several Rainbow Lorikeets sneaking in and out of the cockatoo's cage through a small opening in the top corner. Cheeky things!

One of the children's playgrounds has been created on the foreshore of the lake so the kids can play while mum and dad are fishing or enjoying an afternoon drink watching the sun set over the water.  Next to this playground is a sand pit and a number of shaded tables which seem to be popular meeting places at all times of the day.  A very relaxed and friendly atmosphere has been created with this open space.

BIG4 Bungalow on Burrill Lakes has some of the cleanest amenities we have seen.  There are two large blocks on the lower section of the park, showing a bit of wear but were spotlessly clean. The park has plenty of powered sites - some have a double artificial grass sections for the caravan and annex (very good idea as it is always green and inviting - no dust or mud). There are also fully grassed sites, some with ensuites, and some with slabs as mentioned above.

The park hires SUP boards and canoes for guests to explore the lovely lake.  For the larger watercraft the BIG4 Park has its own boat ramp. As you walk around you will see that almost every permanent caravan site has a boat stored nearby. There are two jetty's over the water for those who like to fish at the water’s edge. I understand that this is a great fishing spot and park has provided fish cleaning areas for guests. There is even a boat washing area, which can be found just below the swimming pools.

There are various cabins in this BIG4 park and they are located in the upper area with glimpses of the lake - spa villas, bungalows and cottages. These are surrounded by beautiful gardens and plenty of shade trees. Close to reception is a building housing a games room, book exchange, television with comfy armchairs, games console and a computer desk.  On two sides of this area are large verandahs with outdoor settings to sit and just enjoy the view.

We found this park very relaxing and are not surprised that visitors return year after year for a holiday in beautiful Burrill Lakes.  The staff are very helpful and friendly and we look forward to heading back with the SUP boards to enjoy an extended stay in this beautiful part of the NSW south coast.
