When we visited Kings Canyon in the Northern Territory we decided to take the Kathleen Springs Walk which is accessed from the main road and well sign posted. The car parking area has sealed road, plentuy of parking bays (big enough to use when towing the caravan), gas barbeques and sheltered picnic tables.
Kathleen Springs is a permanent water supply that was used by the Aboriginals. The two ridges join together making it a great place to catch animals that came to the water to drink, as they cannot get out again with going past you.
This was later used by cattlemen to water cattle and a stockyard was built for overnight stays. This area was also used to corner horses for capture. This path is fully sealed and is wheel chair accessible – about 2.5 kilometres return. There are plenty of signs along the way that explain the history and uses of Kathleen Springs. Quite a pleasant outing.
